Mumbai/Bengaluru, Wednesday, June 17, 2020: As the public transport opens up in phases across the country, Chalo, India’s #1 Bus Transport Management Company, in order to make bus travel safer amidst Covid-19, has announced 100% free mobile ticketing technology solution for all city buses. The technology enables a passenger to book their tickets through their mobile (feature or smartphone). Contactless tickets generated through the system reduces the risk of COVID transmission by 95%.
Any bus operator can install the Chalo mobile technology solution for their intra-city bus routes in three simple steps. One, sign on the agreement and provide a fare stage table. Second, train the crew with Chalo’s assistance. Third, enable the bus tickets to be booked through the app. The entire process takes less than three days to implement.and activated.
Said Mohit Dubey, Co-Founder, and CEO, Chalo, “In the last financial year, the total spending on intra-city bus travel in India was close to $35 billion. The majority of people use buses for their daily commute to work. Now that the lockdown is being lifted, these passengers will also need to start using the buses again. Mobile tickets are one way to reduce cash transactions and hence the risk of transmission during bus travel. In the public’s interest, we are offering this service to any operator who is interested in the same, and we will launch it within 3 days and without any cost to them whatsoever.”
“We have already started offering contactless payment solutions in cities like Guwahati, Vijayawada, Thiruvananthapuram, Mangalore, Kolkata, and Udupi where the public transport has opened up post the lockdown. Jaipur has also signed up for free mobile ticketing and their buses will have the option once bus services resume. Our aim is to eventually make 100% of bus tickets cashless in the cities where Chalo is already present,” added Mohit.
Benefits of Mobile Tickets includes:
- Ticket Issuance System – bus ticket issued for proper records
- Works offline, even without a data connection
- Multiple ticket options for users
- Advance payment collected for tickets prevents in-bus payments fraud
- Secure Visual Validation of the ticket to prevent fraud
A passenger can book a ticket through the Chalo app at his/her convenience. He or she will then just need to show the mobile ticket / QR Code to the bus conductors to travel. An absolutely contactless system is thus designed to support safer bus travel.
