Learn to walk carefully from Riddhi Mota is a mother of two and for her story, they say, “You learn to walk carefully from your falls” but she is someone who broke her ‘Right Shoulder’ and then ‘Left Shoulder’ in a span of 10 years. Her  husband’s words “Riddhi’s Right Shoulder broke in 2010 and to bring left one in the balance she jumped from the stool.” Sounds funny right? But no it wasn’t. It was bad, really bad, and painful.

Her first fall (In 2010)

Riddhi Mota first daughter was born in 2009, and was a feeding mom and like every other mother suffering fromcalcium deficiency. One day while cleaning the kitchen she slipped on a wet floor. The result was shoulder dislocation, multiple fractures and 5 hours of complex operation, 1 titanium plate, 8 screws with 4 months of bed rest and 12 months of physiotherapy which could revive only 60%. Things started sorting and those titanium plates became a part of the body hence she adjusted herself with the pain.

Her Second fall (In 2015)

In 2015 after another baby girl she again lost a lot of calcium. Her past was controlling her mind and one day her fear came true. In 2018, Standing on a big stool to remove a few things from the storage case located at a height, she lost the balance. However, this time broke her left shoulder and was operated with a plate and 6 screws.

Her set of families had supported her and motivated to have a normal life again.

Riddhi’s Learnings (in her words):

“ First, I realized our greatest enemy is our fear. We all have fears but what matters is how we overcome/control them. Fear led me to think about falling every time and one day I let my fear win.  And second learning is ‘Take care of your body.’ It’s been a year now since my second fall, I exercise daily and try to incorporate healthy habits in my life. I loved dancing and my husband motivated me to join Zumba classes. In fact he brought the Zumba teacher at home for me and he joined me for over two months in the first batch of Zumba. This not only helped me to increase my stamina but also helped me to regain my inner me to a greater extent which had left me in 2010. I read about positive things and try to spread positivity around them. That’s now my way of making living worth it!”
